To the Editor: Bone metastases are a common problem in patients with advanced cancer
and account for 50% of all cancer pain. Although many of these patients have a relatively
good prognosis, their mobility and quality of life are severely affected by pain. The
management of bone pain caused by cancer can be very difficult. The well-established
guidelines for treatment with systemic analgesics, as per the World Health Organization's
