The use of wicks made from cotton wool fibers was first introduced as a technique for
measurement of interstitial fluid pressure by Scholander et al.(1968). The same technique
was later used as a means of collecting interstitial fluid (Aukland and Fadnes, 1973;
Lonsman Poulsen, 1973). Although experimental evidence indicates that the fluid collected
by this method represents interstitial fluid, its validity has, so far, not been investigated.
