An electrophysiological study on the vagal innervation of the thymus in the rat

Vagal innervation of the thymus was studied by means of electrophysiological technique in
the rat. Under urethane anesthesia, evoked action potentials originated from cervical vagus
by electrical stimulations were recorded from the central cut end of the thymic branch of the
vagus nerve after averaging for 32 times. It was observed that the conduction velocities are
distributed in the range of 0.56∼ 6.84 m/s, and the majority of vagal fibers in the thymic
